"Senior Singles Retirement Communities"
Cohousing at it's Best!
I am
now working on a Senior Singles Retirement Cohousing
Community.
We
need to gather 20 or so people together who are
interested in the concept and want to proceed.
The
difference between Cohousing and the Mansion Home Co-op
idea is that with Cohousing we each have our own
seperate residence. We each own our own unit and it can
be sold just like any other real estate.
What
is Cohousing?
It
is a community approach to independent living that
serves our social, practical, health, stimulation and
financial needs.
What
does that mean?
The
best information out there is a book "The Senior
Cohousing Handbook", Second Edition, written by Charles
Durrett.
The
Library carries this book.
In
April I attended a week long workshop in California lead
by Chuck Durrett. I learned how to go about building
such a community.
The
first step is to gather 50 or more people together for a
presentation from Jim Leach, a pioneer and developer for
Cohousing communities.
Jim
recently built a senior Cohousing community in Boulder
called Silver Sage. You can google Cohousing and find
Silver Sage to learn more .
Our
community would consist of single people, and would be
much less expensive than Silver Sage. Please don't let
the cost of the Silver Sage Community deter you from
attending a presentation.
My
goal is help create a "very affordable" project!
At
this point I am building an email list of people who
might be interested in coming to a presentation.
Please send me your email address if you would like to
hear more about this idea, or call me, thank you!
