Seminars and Workshops:  Great Ways to Meet New People for Friendship or Romance

by Ronald W. Tallman, M.Th.

Psychotherapist. Relationship and Motivation Expert.

One of the best places to meet potential friends and/or long term relationship possibilities is at a seminar or workshop.  At a dance or bar it is difficult to hear to each other over the music.

1) People who show up for workshops are usually open to learn and even change their thinking. This  makes them good prospects for relationships.  What kills many relationships is one or both parties are so set in their thinking and behaving that they cannot change, even one iota.

2) You can see how another person acts and reacts with others.

3) You have something to talk about other than the same old same old: what the speaker has been talking about.

4) Usually alcohol is limited or not available at workshops, which give you the chance to see who the other person really is. Also it seems that alcohol does not help us make wise relationship choices.

5) There are usually time limits for interaction during workshops and on breaks. This makes it easy to start conversations or break off a conversation with someone who does not interest you.
